We would like to invite you to join our student associations. Currently there are two active groups within our department. They consist of AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers) and Omega Chi Epsilon. AIChE is a very good source of exposure to industry. They try to have industry speakers at their meetings to share what they do and what is expected of newly graduated Chemical Engineers. This is also a good way to meet people in your particular discipline who have taken the courses that you will be facing in your quest for a degree in Chemical Engineering.
AIChE meetings are held regularly. Please check for the schedule. You are encouraged to join the national chapter because you can receive additional information related to employment.
National chapter web site is http://www.aiche.org USF chapter web site information is available here. E-mail address is aiche@eng.usf.edu.
See the following site for a brief introduction to Chemical Engineering (http://www.pafko.com/history/h_toc.html)
The society of Omega Chi Epsilon is an honor society promoting high scholarship, encouraging original investigation in Chemical Engineering and recognizing the valuable traits of character, integrity and leadership. This society serves both undergraduate and graduate students within the Chemical & Biomedical Engineering department. It encourages meaningful student-faculty dialog within the department. Please feel free to visit their home page at http://org.eng.usf.edu/OCE/.
In addition to the above student organizations, we would like to encourage those who are interested in the Biomedical Engineering to please visit the Program Director, Dr. William E. Lee, III and get involved with the College’s Biomedical Engineering Society. For more information on the society please visit http://www.eng.usf.edu/COE_Organizations.html. |
